Why Do Hobbits Need SEVEN Meals – A Scientific Look

Most people don’t know why, but smaller animals need to eat more (relative to their bodyweight) to survive. This phenomemon is called “Kleiber’s Law.” According to this law, an animal’s metabolic rate scales to the 3⁄4 power of the animal’s mass. With this in mind, a hobbit, which is about half the mass of a human being, would need to eat about 7 times a day to survive.

It’s science. Watch this episode of MinuteEarth to learn more about Kleiber’s Law and Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Luncheon, and more!

Edit: Herr Morgenstern on Fark left this funny comment about this post, and I thought you guys might find it amusing:

They eat more, of course. But that also means they’re just constantly shiatting. That’s why it took them so long to get to Mt. Doom, they were taking 20 poo breaks a day.

Yep, makes total sense!

IT NOW EXISTS: FLAMIN’ HOT Cheetos Mountain Dew

For those of you who love both Mountain Dew and FLAMIN’ HOT Cheetos, here’s something that might interest you! Starting August 31, 2021, PepsiCo will release a new version of Mountain Dew flavored with, you guessed, it, FLAMIN’ HOT Cheetos! Yeah, I know, no one really asked for this, but I’d taste it anyways, just out of curiosity. Unfortunately, it likely won’t be available here in Canada, so if the folks over at Pepsi want to send me a few samples (for us and our 6 kids,) we’d be eternally grateful!

Here’s an excerpt of the official press release:

“As a brand, DEW has a rich history of experimenting with new flavors our fans love. We certainly had them in mind when we developed the FLAMIN’ HOT beverage,” says Matt Nielsten, Sr. Director, Marketing. “This is one of our most provocative beverages yet, and we’re excited for DEW Nation to taste the unique blend of spicy and classic sweet citrus flavor of MTN DEW.”

Want to try it for yourself? Be sure to head over to the official Mountain Dew store on August 31st!
