Jason awoke on the morning of Friday the 13th to the sound of rain drumming against his window and wind howling through the trees. With a glance outside, he saw the gray sky and the wet streets and felt a pang of relief. The stormy weather seemed to echo his dark past, but today, he felt a rare flicker of peace.
Instead, Jason wrapped himself in a cuddly blanket and settled into his favorite armchair by the fireplace. His orange cat, ominously named “Slash,” already nestled on the blanket, sleeping soundly. As the flames crackled softly and the warmth from the fire embraced him, Jason sipped his steaming cup of cocoa, feeling the gentle rise and fall of Slash’s purring on his lap.
In this quiet moment, surrounded by warmth and the gentle purring of Slash, Jason found solace, if only for a while, from the storm within and without.
