After nearly 13 years at the helm of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy is reportedly stepping down as president by the end of 2025, according to a new report from Puck News. While Disney has yet to confirm, sources say Kennedy has already signaled her departure, wrapping up just as The Mandalorian & Grogu movie prepares to hit theaters in 2026.

Kennedy’s tenure has been nothing short of eventful. She helped usher Star Wars into the streaming era, with The Mandalorian becoming a cultural phenomenon (and Grogu a merchandising empire). Meanwhile, Andor proved the franchise could deliver prestige television, but the road wasn’t always smooth. The sequel trilogy generated billions yet left fans divided, Solo became the first Star Wars film to lose money, and The Book of Boba Fett left some wondering if the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter needed a career change.

Beyond Star Wars, Lucasfilm’s challenges extended to other franchises. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny underperformed despite its blockbuster budget, and the Willow revival barely lasted a season before disappearing into the Disney+ vault.

If reports hold true, Kennedy’s final contributions will be Andor Season 2 and The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. With Disney now preparing to appoint a new leader, the question remains—will the next era of Lucasfilm bring balance to the Force or more debate in the fandom? Either way, change is coming to a galaxy far, far away.
