The Forgotten Realms Come to Life: Netflix’s Live-Action Dungeons & Dragons Series in the Works!

Forgotten Realm Novels

Grab your dice, adventurers! The world of Faerûn is coming to the small screen—Netflix is officially bringing Forgotten Realms to life with a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series, set in one of the most beloved campaign settings in D&D history.

With Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Deadpool & Wolverine) leading the charge and Drew Crevello as showrunner, this project is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s biggest fantasy investments yet. The legendary Forgotten Realms—home to heroes like Drizzt Do’Urden, Elminster, and many more—will finally get the epic adaptation it deserves.

Originally conceived by game designer Ed Greenwood, the Forgotten Realms setting has been a staple of Dungeons & Dragons since the late ’80s, serving as the backdrop for countless adventures, novels, and even the 2023 film Honor Among Thieves.

With no release date announced yet, we can only speculate which stories, characters, and legendary locations—like Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate, or the Underdark—will make their way onto our screens. Will we see the rise of the Zhentarim? The machinations of the Red Wizards? Or perhaps the return of a certain scimitar-wielding drow ranger?

One thing’s for sure: with Netflix rolling a natural 20 on this adaptation, the adventure is just beginning!
