We’ve all been there. You open your browser to “just check one thing,” and two hours later, you’re somehow scrolling through page 12 of cat videos or doomscrolling through yet another social media app. If only there were a way to break free from this vicious cycle…
Enter TabBoo, the browser extension that says, “Sure, you can keep visiting your favorite sites—but at what cost?” This diabolical masterpiece works by adding random jumpscares to the websites you specify. Yes, jumpscares. As in, heart-stopping, keyboard-dropping, “WHAT EVEN IS THAT?!” moments designed to snap you out of your browsing trance faster than a parent catching you, well, doing anything you shouldn’t!
According to its creators, Justin and Brian Moore, TabBoo uses the dark magic of “aversive conditioning” to modify your behavior. Or, in less scientific terms, “We’re gonna make you regret clicking that link for the 58th time today.”
The extension is fully customizable because nothing says “I want to suffer, but only a little” like setting your jumpscare preferences.
Warning: Side effects include nightmares, jumpy reflexes, wet pants, and deep, unshakable mistrust of your favorite websites. Use responsibly… or recklessly. We’re not judging.
