Ryan Reynolds recently dropped a fun behind-the-scenes nugget about Deadpool & Wolverine that has us dying of curiosity. During an appearance at the Fast Company Innovation Festival, Reynolds revealed that Disney CEO Bob Iger personally asked him to cut one line from the film. Now, considering this is Deadpool we’re talking about, you know that line had to be REALLY spicy.
“There was only one line in the entire film they asked me to take out,” Reynolds said. “No. No. No! And… they were right!” While he’s sworn to secrecy about what the line actually was, he described his initial reaction in true Deadpool fashion. “As soon as they say, ‘Ryan, Bob Iger here. We’d love it if you’d take that one line out. It’s really going to make our life hard over here,’ my brain immediately goes, ‘Must. Keep. Line. Precious!’”
Of course, Reynolds eventually saw reason—after all, when Bob Iger calls, you listen. But he couldn’t help himself: “I was like, ‘Sure, I’ll take it out… but can I throw in something about Pinocchio instead?’ And they said yes!” Now we’re all left wondering what epic burn was too much for even the Merc with a Mouth to get away with. Whatever it was, one thing’s for sure: Bob Iger must have a heck of a sense of humor to handle almost everything Deadpool dishes out!
