An Alchemist’s Confession: A short film that was created by Cory Williams using Unreal Engine 5 in just five days!
On Wednesday, September 20th, I found some really cool assets on the Unreal Engine Marketplace that I wanted to do something cool with. So I downloaded them, prepared a scene and optimized the characters for motion capture inside of Character Creator 4 and iClone 8. The next day, I wrote the script and posted a screenshot of the new project set on LinkedIn. Then on Friday, I recorded the audio and motion capture and exported the data from iClone 8 into Unreal Engine 5. As I was getting out of my Xsens suit, I got a message from Mark Otim on LinkedIn who had seen the screenshot I had posted earlier and asked if I’d like any help with sound design. His reel was impressive, and I love to collaborate with other artists, so of course I brought him on. Then a few minutes later, Angel Roché Jr. reached out to me and asked the same thing, but he was offering to create an original score. His reel was amazing, and I would be crazy to turn someone like him down. So, then I made the introductions and the 3 of us got busy. Angel and Mark spent the next few days making great audio while I spent more time focusing on animation and other VFX inside of Unreal Engine. Then Tuesday night, we had a finished piece.
