Taika Waititi Reads a Hilarious Letter About a Time Traveller Who Gets a Speeding Ticket

In a rather humorous twist of fate, Auckland resident Justin Lee turned a simple speeding ticket into a legendary moment at Letters Live in London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2019.

Back in 2004, Mr. Lee received a speeding ticket with a mind-boggling typo. According to the notice, he had committed the infringement 30 years earlier, in 1974, on the very day he was born!

His hilarious response to this time-travelling mix-up was read aloud by none other than the brilliant Taika Waititi, turning a bureaucratic blunder into a memorable performance that left the audience in stitches. Watch the performance below!

For those of you who wish to see the actual speeding ticket and the letter in question, both are available over at the Letters of Note website. And yes, after receiving the letter, the Infringement Bureau of the New Zealand Police decided to waive the offence, meaning Mr. Lee was not required to pay the infringement fee.
