The Two Reasons Why We Launch Rockets from Florida

Florida might seem like a bad place to launch rockets from, especially because of the terrible weather, but there’s actually two very good reasons why NASA is doing it from there. First, as our planet rotates on its axis, it generates kinetic energy, and as you get closer to the equator, this kinetic energy increases. Since Cape Canaveral is relatively close to the equator, rockets launched from there require less fuel to get out of Earth’s atmosphere. Second, if something happens during launch, the rocket will fall in the ocean instead of on land, effectively preventing major disasters from occuring.
