Lord of the Rings has, at this time in history, taken many forms. We’ve got the original books, Tolkien’s many appendices and notes, comics, TV shows, video games, and various movies and sundry pieces of media. It’s safe to say that the story of LoTR exists in your brain as a kind of hodge podge, drawing from all of the pieces of media mentioned here, as well as conversations with friends, urban legends, and faded memories. For this reason, there are numerous “false facts” about the story that have taken hold over the years, but which don’t bear up to scrutiny. We’ll talk about some of these here today.
