A host of TV and movie characters are officially registered as candidates for this year’s US Presidential election. Sadly few are likely to make it onto the ballot.

They are among 1,824 people who’ve registered with the Federal Election Commission as candidates. Doing so doesn’t bring any specific benefits but is instead a legal requirement for any candidate who has received a set amount of campaign donations. However, anyone can complete the form and as it’s now possible to do so online, it’s turned into something of an open invitation for pranksters.

The list includes not one but five members of the Nutz clan, and several people whose names just happen to read as defamatory statements, but here are a few of our favorites and their chosen party:

• Ren, Kylo (Peace And Freedom Party)

• Starwars, Yoda (Independent)
• Vader, Darth (Write-In)

Registering doesn’t guarantee the candidates will appear on ballots in any states and doing so nationwide will require an estimated minimum of 880,000 signatures, while the nine states that allow unrestricted write-in votes don’t have enough Electoral College votes to secure the Presidency, so Tyrion and company have more work to put in before they can hope to take up residence at the White House.
