For me, the sense of boundless exploration and limitless direction is exactly what I love about open world games. The freedom they allow the ADHD stricken gamer with was all but unheard of 25 years ago. Whilst some call games like the original Legend of Zelda open world, that is using the term loosely. Zelda had a fairly linear first quest and story line, but with games like Grand Theft Auto and Just Cause, the TRUE freedom gamers have longed for since day one is finally upon us. But why are there so many open world games now, and have we reached a saturation point as gamers?
GameCross discusses these very things in the video above.
