The Canadian mint now offers a range of Star Trek-themed coins including the world’s first delta-shaped currency. They are legal to spend, though in most cases you’d be behind on the deal.
The only coin being sold at face value is a $20 silver coin with the Enterprise on one side. It’s one of three such coins planned for this year, the other featuring a Batman vs Superman image and a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Another range is of four $10 silver coins with colour images of Kirk, Scotty, Uhura and Spock. These cost $54.95 each and come via a subscription package with one coin released each month. There’s a similar deal for three $20 coins with photos from three classic episodes, each coin costing $109.95. Alternatively you can get a one-off $20 coin, again for $109.95, with a color image of the Enterprise taking up almost one entire face of the coin. All are available for order in Canada and the US only.
The most unusual coin in the range has already sold out, with only 1,500 minted. It’s a gold $200 coin in the shape of the delta logo and sold for $1,299.
