We used to dream of robots serving us drinks and cleaning our houses, but putting tomatoes in our mouths? Well, that’s just what Tomatan does.
While there’s some minorly impressive technology (manipulating a tomato without crushing it), it seems of limited use. The makers say it could be useful for runners who want to get a nutrient hit without fiddling around with a backpack. The problem is that Tomatan weighs 18 pounds so appears to only be useful for a middle-distance run. For marathon runners there’s a three-pound mini version, though that works by firing tomato along a feeding tube rather than taking Tomatan’s gentler approach.
