William Shatner recently hinted on Twitter that he might be a Brony. I’ll have to tell this to my 7-year-old daughter who got bullied last week by a few mean kids because she took one of her “My Little Pony” comic books in the bus to read while on her way to school. When she got home at the end of the day, she was crying and didn’t understand why the kids made fun of her.
Even though we tell her that the comic book is obviously for kids that are older than she is, she’s afraid of bringing it back in the bus. Back in the early 80s, my friends and I played with our G.I. Joes and Transformers up until we were in 6th grade, but today, kids in 2nd grade are already getting “pressured” by others to grow up if they act like the children they are.
If an 84-year-old man can like My Little Pony, I don’t see why my 7-year-old daughter should be ashamed to do so.
