Probably confusing him with either Sir Ian McKellen or his mistaking his BFF-ness with McKellen as a relationship, “The Guardian” accidentally referred to Sir Patrick Stewart as gay in their Feb. 17 article about fellow X-Men star Ellen Page coming out.
A correction has since been issued, but not before the internet alerted Sir Stewart, and just like we all think he would, he handled it with grace and humor.
.@Poynter But @guardian I have, like, five or even SEVEN hetero friends and we totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings!

Well, @guardian it makes for a nice change…at least I didn't wake up to the internet telling me I was dead again.

MT “@Gruaig_Rua: @Poynter Silly @guardian. You can't catch gay by hanging out with #LGBT people."
