Canadian designer Valerie says she has forging jewelry since the tender, young age of 7.

Her VaLa Jewellery Shop has added an affordable, Star Trek-inspired ring for geeky lads to purchase to surprise their geeky ladies.

The custom-made ring boasting the Starfleet insignia is forged from 14K white gold and sterling silver and contains a white sapphire, in place of a pricey diamond.
