Atlanta resident Eddie Holley suffered through numerous and lengthy sessions to get this “Star Wars” tattoo that comprises his entire back.

But Holley didn’t want just any old “Star Wars” design: He worked with Eddie Stacey at Ink & Dagger Tattoo in Roswell, GA, to create a one-of-a-kind piece that Holley calls “Japanese with perhaps American realism.”

“My wife is the lover of all things Asian,” he says. “This piece just always made sense to me. I’m a pop culture/sci-fi guy all the way.”

There’s clearly a lot going on in and around the tattoo, and each section holds something special. Holley breaks it down:

Luke and Vader as samurai…Obi-Wan as a yūrei, Artoo as a pagoda lamp, stolen Death Star plans, Leia as a geisha, [and] TIE fighter/Star Destroyer kite strings. You can also see Ignignokt and Err (The Mooninites from “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”) and a bit of the “Dune” sandworm [Frank Herbert] on the right arm and some of the Lovecraft tentacles and sarlacc pit on the left arm.”
